when i look upon the world and the universe, you and me, under the moon and the stars in the sky, i see infinity. i see a moment lost and caught in the vast lattice of a night that never ends. a lifetime that could last forever. just because. nobody’s watching, nobody’s counting, nobody cares. just you and me and our heartbeats meeting.

wandering
in this city i call home
paying homage
to the memories
of everything
remembered
and forgotten
streaming music
only i can hear
the aching voice
of a woman broken
by choices
made
two-thirds owned
one-third financed
her heart bruised
black and purple
is
2 parts guinness
1 part framboise
tasty
always
but too many make
stomachache
i remember
that i’d forgotten
so it’s that time
I decide
halfway between
early and late
at 2 a.m.
wandering
in this city
almost home

lately i’ve been feeling

not sure what to do

the face i see before me

distorted by the view

peering out into the world, i notice

everything’s askew

the looking glass of life

if only we all knew

everything is fading

love-hearts have grown dry

the only truth that matters

the truth that we deny

so i waiver and i waffle

unsteady as i walk

begging for the silence

hearing all the talk

in this pathway set before me, nigh

please leave promises of hope

surely i will find them

we all learn how to cope

if i could accomplish just one thing here

the one thing i would be

be the love that matters
